Horsetail plants, especially Equisetum arvense are a rich source of silica,thrive in moist to wet conditions and prefer full sun to partial shade. They need regular watering, especially during dry periods, and can also be planted in standing water. Pruning old stems and containing their spread is important, as they can be invasive.
