Balm, Lemon – Melissa officinalis is a hardy perennial with wrinkled green leaves that have a delicious lemon scent.
Plants tolerate most conditions but prefer full sun or partial shade. As a member of the mint family, it can be quite boisterous in the border so plant sensibly. Cut back after flowering to avoid self-seeding and to encourage a second flush of fresh foliage.

A herb that has many medicinal and culinary properties. The lemon flavour and scent work well with a variety of dishes. Well known for ‘Melissa tea’ which promotes sound sleep.
